At St. Martinus University Faculty of Medicine, our mission is to provide a well-balanced
instructional program that enables the students to reach the highest level of academic
success. Our staff is committed to creating a student-centered educational environment
that is constantly adapting to the students' needs.

safe. challenging, respectful and supportive environment both inside and outside the
classroom.
We have developed a US-based systemic curriculum which will aid students in
preparation for the USMLE Step examinations, enhance placement into clinical rotations,
and provide the skills and knowledge that will lead to a successful and rewarding career.
With the best equipment and staff on our side, our aim is to help students reach their full
potential and become qualified physicians and exceptional leaders in the field of
medicine.
The Pre-Medical (PM) program is a one-year, 90 credit accelerated program. The PM program allows prospective medical students to meet the General Science requirements for admission into the MD Program at SMUFOM.
The Basic Science program is a two-year program and is offered at our Curacao Campus. This program will not only provide you will all the knowledge and skills you will require 10 - week USMLE Preparation Course at the end of the second year. 80% of our classes have fewer than 60 students.
The Clinical program is a 2-year program consisting of 72 weeks,
including 48 weeks of basic required rotations and 24 weeks of
elective rotations. SMUFOM's hospital network offers all 6 Core
Rotations and over 30 electives.
Clinical Rotations are offered in Curacao, US, Canada, and UK.
$1,000 to all Basic Science students with a GPA of 3.75 or above.
$500 awarded to any SGA member fulfilling the criterion:
Academic Excellence Scholarship:
$6,000 scholarship awarded to every student scoring 235 and above in USMLE Step I.
$8,000 awarded to every student scoring 250 and above in USMLE Step 1.
Qualifying student are offered payment plan options which allow for payment of tuition and fees in comfortable monthly installments.
Qualifying students can defer up to $2,200 USD per semester payable at graduation.
Skerpener Hall is SMUFOM's on-campus residence. With single, double, and triple A rooms, Skerpener Hall offers options for all budgets. In addition a meal plan to having your lunch and dinner included in your Housing Package, you are also steps away from your classroom!
The SMU Fitness Center is an affordable student-run gym located on campus with all the equipment available including treadmills, bikes, and free-weights.

CAFETERIA The SMU Cafeteria is open to all students who wish to eat on campus. Lunch and dinner are prepared daily. Housing packages include a full meal plan and offered to all off-campus students foronly $7 per meal.
St. Martinus University's has a specifically
designed US-based Curriculum for students
wishing to pursue their medical profession in the
United States. Students who do not wish to
practice medicine in the US will be evaluated on
a case by case basis and may be exempt from
certain Admission Requirements. However,
meeting the minimum educational or pre-
medical requirements is considered important to
the students' success in the academic program.
Please note, all courses at SMU are taught in
English.
In selecting applicants for admission, St. Martinus
University, Faculty of Medicine will scrutinize
applicants' motivation, intellect, and other
character traits essential to becoming a
physician. Consideration will also be given to
special features of background and experience
which may contribute to a candidate's potential
success in the medical field. Because physicians
must be able to offer care to those who are il
applicants should give evidence of their
capacity to deal effectively with other people.
They must also be able to organize their
activities, set priorities, accept responsibility, and
function well under stress.
Our Admissions committee will comple all of the
required documentation and information
gathered during the admissions process. Once all
the information
has been received, the
Admissions Department will schedule an
interview with the prospective student. The
candidate will then receive a final decision from
